Master Mason Boater Hat, felt
The wearing of hats by Master Masons during their work dates back to the 18th century, when they were associated with the wearing of swords. The wearing of these two distinguishing marks of nobility partly explains the enthusiasm of the bourgeoisie to be accepted as Masons at the time. The type of hat was not described in the old rituals, as it was a common headgear in secular life. Only certain High Degrees prescribed specific ritual headgear. Today, some Rites recommend a particular ritual headgear. The Lodges of many Masonic Rites often use a black city hat. Why not combine elegance and originality with a boater hat?

How to reshape your felt headgear?
Water vapour restores the original appearance of the felt, softening it temporarily. You can then simply reshape it by hand.
How does it work in practice?
1) Boil hot water in a kettle or saucepan to create steam.
2) Place the edge of your headgear over the steam, avoiding direct contact with the water.
3) Patiently shape the brim of your hat with your fingers.
4) To reshape the crown, smooth by placing your hand inside the hat.
