History, Myths and Traditions of Freemasonry
Freemasonry (French) - Editions Liber Faber
Author: Alain Roussel

Freemasonry defines itself as an initiatory Order, carrying a sense of the sacred that goes beyond mere passive religiosity of dogmatic essence. It remains an organization that, for many, is still shrouded in mystery—whether regarding its origins, its history, its inner workings, or the objectives it pursues. Numerous fantasies and misconceptions continue to circulate about it, sometimes casting an unfortunate shadow over it, and fueling rumors of supposed occult powers.

This book sets out, with a rational approach, to shed light on its origins and development. Freemasonry is also put into perspective alongside other traditions imbued with spirituality. The author has chosen to describe in detail some of the foundational myths of Masonic tradition, tracing them back to their historical and purely mythical sources:

  • The celebration of the solstices;

  • The golden ratio and sacred architecture;

  • Solomon and Hiram.
